Company A, located in Garden Grove, CA manufactures a number of products used in the testing of water quality. This application is what I designed laboratory test instruments for at Dionex (now Thermo Fisher), so I understand the basic science.
From the Parent Company website: Company A has been a leader in sensor manufacturing with particular expertise in pH sensors. However today, its portfolio consists of a comprehensive set of measurements for both online process and laboratory applications.
The Company A website is simply a product catalog. The blog section is up to date, but the rest of the website shows no innovation although you can contact them about customization and OEM products. They have a nice corporate brochure but it was last updated in 2016. They do have two open positions for Manufacturing Engineering types posted on Linkedin.
I get the impression that Company A is focused on production and is not doing much new product development. They did hire a new Director of Engineering in Dec 2019 (4 months prior to this analysis), maybe the new leadership will bring the missing innovation.
Follow up questions and discussions would include a search of the company’s patent history, a look at competitive products and alternative technologies, and discussions with customers and engineers with the aim of understanding Company A’s standing compared to the current state of the art.
